  • Excerpt from letter dated 26 July 1979 from Warren Wilson to grandson D. Trumbull–

Robert Wilson to upper Michigan through Canada, from England. He was part English, part Scotch. He came to Baraga about 1880. He had two brothers and a sister. The two brothers stayed in Ontario, one in Redfern and one in Sault Ste. Marie, both had families. His sister traveled west and eventually became the wife of a Morman in Salt Lake City. She was one of the wives divorced and provided for the rest of her life when the Morman practice on wives became illegal. She is dead.

At Baraga Michigan my dad met and married Amelia Falk. Now Amelia came across the Atlantic in a sail boat at a very young age. Her father John Falk and several other families chartered a boat and after crossing the Atlantic continued up the St. Lawrence River thru the Great Lakes to a spot between Baraga and L'Anse; went in land by oxen carts and eventually formed a settlement called Falk Settlement 5 miles in land from the bay. The Falks were mostly German.
