    Hold Services for Mrs. C. Nichols

    Mrs. Cassie B. Nichols, 71, of Taylor died Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Oakwood Hospital at Dearborn. She was a former resident of Decker.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 3, at Little's Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Gibson officiating.

    Born April 29, 1901 in New York state, she a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Vennevy.

    She and Rex Nichols were married in Caro in 1935. He died in 1956.

    Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Bruno (Ruth) Bresky and Mrs. John (Kathleen) Bresky both of Cass City, and Mrs. William (Kathryn) Donovan of Caro, and four sons, Leroy Porter of Westland, Henry Porter and Floyd Porter, both of Taylor, and Harley Nichols of Decker.

    Others are: two stepdaughters, Mrs. Beva Wallace of Cass and Mrs. Richard (Wanda) Shaner of Livonia; two stepsons, Harmond Nichols of Decker and Dallas Nichols of Reford; 42 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

    Burial was in Elkland Cemetery.

  • The funeral notice from the Cass City Chronicle lists as father, Isaac Vennevy, but that is unlikely, Isaac was 14 years old and Cassies's 1919 marriage record lists as father, John Vennevy, which is consistent the statement of Ben Kitchen that Cassie was the sister of his mother Lillian Vennevy.
